<div align="center"> _A hardcore survival modpack inspired by [Crash Landing](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/crash-landing) by Iskandar._ ![The Ship](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/Y5UhUxAD/images/b3ecdfeb9a605862827233fbeb64703e35d1fca2.png) [![Available on Modrinth](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/@intergrav/devins-badges@3/assets/cozy/available/modrinth_vector.svg)](https://modrinth.com/modpack/desolate-planet) [![Available on Curseforge](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/@intergrav/devins-badges@3/assets/cozy/available/curseforge_vector.svg)](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/desolate-planet) </div> *** You have survived a crash landing on Planet T4L0S, an uncharted planet in the Varkin system. Preliminary scans indicate an arid environment with pockets of elevated radiation, high mineral content, and subterranean hydrocarbon reservoirs. You will need to brave the blazing heat, find sources of food and water, scour the planet for resources, build up technology, and search for a way to escape the planet. Desolate Planet is a challenging, quest-based modpack where you must struggle for survival on a dust planet with limited resources. The map is set to hardcore, you must use the [Sync](https://modrinth.com/mod/sync-fabric-rereported/) mod to build yourself more lives. <div align="center"> ![The Nuclear Plant](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/Y5UhUxAD/images/26717b9d9ab7cacc1e0d6605fc0bc932e9be0d32.webp) </div> *** <div align="center"> [![GitHub](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/@intergrav/devins-badges@3/assets/cozy/social/github-plural_vector.svg)](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet) [![Discord](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/@intergrav/devins-badges@3/assets/cozy/social/discord-plural_vector.svg)](https://discord.gg/4en3SpWtJg) </div> **This pack is still under development.** This version will still have bugs, and feedback is welcome. Reach us directly on the Discord server: [https://discord.gg/4en3SpWtJg](https://discord.gg/4en3SpWtJg) Or through the Subreddit: [https://www.reddit.com/r/CrashLanding2Modpack](https://www.reddit.com/r/CrashLanding2Modpack) *** ## FAQ ### Q: How do I install the modpack? A: Download the Modrinth or Curseforge app, search for the name of the pack, and click install. Make sure you are using 6-8 GB of RAM in the modpack or launcher's settings. ### Q: How can I play multiplayer? A: The [e4mc](https://modrinth.com/mod/e4mc) mod is installed. To play multiplayer, simply open your world to LAN, and it will print an address in chat that other players can join with. ### Q: How do I set up a server? Do you have a server pack? A: If you _aren't_ experienced with server hosting, see the answer above. If you _are_ experienced with server hosting, server packs are available alongside most Curseforge releases (Modrinth no longer allows server pack publishing). To download the server pack, visit Curseforge's [project files](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/desolate-planet/files/all) page, select the most recent one, go to the "Additional Files" tab, select the server pack, and click Download. Once downloaded, unzip the file and run it locally via the `run.bat` (Windows) or `run.sh` (Linux/Mac) files. If you use a server hosting provider, upload _all_ the contents of the server pack to your host and find instructions for how to set up a Forge server on that host. These instructions are different for each server host, so find instructions specific to the one you are using. ### Q: Why does my game/world gets stuck while loading in? A: Make sure you have allocated at least 6 GB of RAM to the modpack. I usually recommend 8 GB if your computer has enough. ### Q: How can I disable hardcore? A: I strongly recommend learning to use the sync shells for extra lives, it's what the game was balanced around. If you select the easy route, you'll start with enough power for 3 shells. Follow the steps in the Sync quest for a detailed guide. However, if you've tried that and still want to disable hardcore, you can edit the hardcore setting in `config/globalgamerules-common.toml`. On a server, the steps are slightly different. Download [this file](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/Y5UhUxAD/versions/YopX3hzh/Non-Hardcore_Server_Files.zip) and replace the files on the server with the files in that zip. I recommend backing up the target files before replacing them. ### Q: Why do I have debuffs like weakness, mining fatigue, or hunger? A: You are likely malnourished. Check your nutrition by clicking the Diet button in your inventory. Aim to get a balanced diet by keeping the four main food groups above 50%. Higher values will give buffs, lower ones will give debuffs. The one exception is the sugars group, which isn't necessary to maintain. The sugars group will give speed buffs at moderate levels, but be careful because you will get debuffs if your meter goes over 80%. Read about the specific buffs and debuffs from the Diet mod on the wiki page [here](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet/wiki/Nutrition-and-Diet). ### Q: How do I update the modpack? A: In most launchers, open the modpack from your library and click the “Change Version” or “Update” button in the top-right. ### Q: Will updating to a new version break my world? A: Generally no, you won't have any issues. Only major releases break anything and there will be a description of exactly what they break near the start of the changelog. However, it is always a good idea to frequently back up your world. ### Q: What is the best power source? A: The quests include 3 recommended energy sources. The first is the _Pitiful Generator_, which is powered by burnable fuel and very slow. Once you get oil refining set up, you can use the _Compression Dynamo_ to burn various types of oils. Finally, you can get a _Nuclear Reactor_ in the end-game, which is a highly effective generation method. The quests will guide you through these three recommended methods, but other generators can be built along the way. ### Q: Why does the modpack use Hardcore Questing Mode (HQM) instead of FTB Quests? A: HQM was initially chosen because it was used in the original Crash Landing modpack. We've stuck with the mod both because of that and because FTB quests is licensed in a restrictive way. Due to the FTB team's exclusivity with Curseforge, modpacks using their mods are not allowed on Modrinth. There are a few other quest mods available (Better Questing and Odyssey Quests), but I find the gameplay experience to be lacking a bit compared to HQM and FTB Quests. ### Q: How do I get seared bricks/grout for a smeltery? A: There is a Tinker's Construct smeltery building in the cities, containing crumbling seared brick blocks. Break those with a hammer or pulverize them to get seared bricks. ### Q: How can I change the thermometer to Celsius? A: Go to the Options menu, click the Cold Sweat button on the left, and change the units option in the top-left. ### Q: Why do structures generate in the same spot on every world? A: All worlds currently use the same seed, which allows gameplay to be balanced more tightly. This way, we can ensure players spawn in the right biome and that the late-game structures are further from spawn than the early-game ones. Soon we will switch to a different world generation system which allows greater control over biome and structure placement. After that update, a preset seed will still be used, but manually setting a custom seed will no longer completely break the balance of the world. ### Q: Can I help develop/contribute to the modpack? A: Absolutely! * For simple suggestions, create an [issue](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet/issues) or let us know on the [Discord](https://discord.gg/4en3SpWtJg). * For simpler submissions like textures, models, buildings, or other small files, you can send those to us and we can do the implementation work for you (if approved). * For anything more complicated like full game mechanics, complex scripts, or large-scale config adjustments, you can submit a [pull request](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet/pulls) on GitHub. See our [Contributing Guide](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet?tab=contributing-ov-file) for information about setting up the modpack dev environment on your computer. ### Q: Can I help translate the modpack? A: Absolutely! * I have done my best to make all text in the modpack translatable through Minecraft's localization files and the modpack was recently translated into Portuguese. * If you want to translate anything into your language (or correct any existing translations), feel free to send me them via [Discord](https://discord.gg/4en3SpWtJg) or by submitting a [pull request](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet/pulls) on our [Github](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet). * The following files are available to translate: * [Custom Items and Tooltips](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet/blob/main/kubejs/assets/desolate_planet/lang/en_us.json) * [Quests](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet/blob/main/kubejs/assets/hardcorequesting/lang/en_us.json) * [Tips](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet/blob/main/kubejs/assets/tips/lang/en_us.json) * [Diet Notifications](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet/blob/main/kubejs/assets/diet/lang/en_us.json) * [Diet Mod Text](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet/blob/main/kubejs/assets/a_balanced_diet/en_us.json) * [Legume Delight Items](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet/blob/main/kubejs/assets/legumedelight/en_us.json) * [Scarcity Mod Items](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet/blob/main/kubejs/assets/scarcity/en_us.json) * [RAM Allocation Warnings](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet/blob/main/config/crash_assistant/crash_assistant_localization_overrides/en_us.json) ### Q: Do you have a roadmap/list of planned updates? A: Yes, the most up-to-date roadmap is in [our discord](https://discord.gg/nP9jaNze8e). I have many plans for the future of this modpack and the roadmap details the next 6-8 major updates. Feel free to let me know what you think and what you think the future of this modpack should include. *** ## Credits Developed by: * [Pawjwp](https://modrinth.com/user/pawjwp) (Current lead developer) * [MarkSDR](https://modrinth.com/user/MarkSDR) (Former lead developer) * [ULSTICK](https://linktr.ee/ULSTICK) (Builder and developer) Other contributers: * Nagasakii (Early development work and initial quests) * [QinlingP](https://www.curseforge.com/members/qinlingp/projects) (Packwiz setup and preset seed mod) * herobrian903 (Create quest line prototyping) * [Kilometers](https://modrinth.com/user/kilometersperhour) (Early development work) * Mei-Nanita (Early recipe work) * Pand1024 (Early github maintenance) Original pack developer: * [Iskandar](https://x.com/iskan_dar) <div align="center"> ![The Wasteland](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/Y5UhUxAD/images/469e0228d64aa83a156b8817a1a5cc74ee8bdf6a.png) </div> _All proceeds from this modpack will be donated to [GiveWell](https://www.givewell.org/)._

Pirate Speak translations be comin’ yer way! - Highlighted some of the most important and frequently missed quest text with different formatting - Renamed a few quests - Fixed some typos in various quests - Fixed some outdated information in Green Thumb and Assembly Line quests - Updated JEI description of witch water to remove reference to netherrack generation (witch water netherrack gen is bugged and didn’t work, and would be disabled in favor of the redstone method even if it was enabled) - Added informational tooltips to the controller frame, nullifier, sieve, and mechanical hammer **Mod Changes:** - Switched to my own fork of the Diet mod called [A Balanced Diet](https://github.com/pawjwp/diet). This allows a variety of new quality of life and balance features. - Quality View: A new toggle on the diet screen enters "Quality View", which shows what thresholds of each diet bar start to provide positive or negative effects. - Tooltip Tweaks: Each diet group now has a tooltip showing the effects that come from it, in addition to the aggregate tooltip at the top of the screen. - Precise Nutrient Values: Nutrition values are now precisely set per-food instead of generated automatically based on tags. - Previously, foods had an equal distribution of nutrition values for each of the food groups they belonged to (scaled based on hunger restoration and per-group gain multipliers). This means a food couldn't have just "a little" of a group, it either was part of that group or it wasn't. Fruit salad, for example, was equal parts fruits and vegetables even though it was crafted with 5 fruits and 1 vegetable. - Other benefits of the new system: - Foods with small amounts of sugar like Baked Beans are no longer completely unviable due to giving way too much sugar. - More base foods can contain multiple food groups without affecting everything crafted from them. For now, the following foods have been changed to provide mixed groups: - Potatoes grant 40% grains and 60% vegetables - Tomatoes grant 33% fruits and 67% vegetables - Foods no longer give significantly less food when crafted into other food items with mediocre hunger values. (For example, a Fruit Salad gave 2% fruits and 2% vegetables when the ingredients to make it gave 9% fruits and 3% vegetables.) - Drinks (like milk bottles, hot cocoa, apple cider, melon juice, etc.) can provide nutrients even if they don't provide a hunger value. - Notification System: Players will now get notified when they cross certain nutrition thresholds. - Negative effects will notify the player every time you gain an effect and every time the effect worsens. - Positive effects will notify the player the first time they gain an effect and will not notify again. - All notifications settings can be changed with the `/diet notification` command. The command options are: - `/diet notifications list`, which will list the notification defaults and current settings for each individual message ID - `/diet notifications all`, which will change notification frequency for all notifications - `/diet notifications group <group_id>`, which will change notification frequency for everything with the specified group ID - `/diet notifications set <set_id>`, which will change notification frequency for everything with specified set ID - `/diet notifications message <message_id>`, which will change notification frequency for the specified message ID - `/diet notifications options <message_id>`, which will show the mute menu for the specified message ID - `/diet notifications reset`, which will reset all notifications to their configured defaults (this will cause `once` notifications to re-trigger) - Updated Scarcity - Fixed more waterloggable blocks converting flowing water into source blocks when placed - Using bottles on waterlogged plants no longer creates infinite water - The Blast Chiller now works with any water purification state - Thermal machines no longer duplicate smelted buckets - Updated Farmer’s Delight and Legume Delight - New foods: - Gleaming salad - Onion soup - The Nourishment replaces all instances of the Comfort effect and has been updated: - Nourishment now pauses saturation consumption but not hunger - Players can now always eat when the Nourishment effect is active - Added missing recipes to turn bean and peanut sacks back into beans and peanuts - Pie crusts no longer cost sugar - Cutting board can now take a full stack of items - Tomatoes and Beans now use a separate block when growing on ropes (these will be automatically updated in the world next time they tick) - Added Extreme Sound Muffler - ESM button is only visible in Creative mode, this can be changed in the configs if you'd like - Set some default reduced volume sounds based on community request - Added AdvancedBackups - The world will now automatically back up every 15 minutes - These backups are incremental and only include the differences since the last backup - Use the scripts in `/backups` to restore a backu - Added SuperFactoryManager - Modern remake of Steve’s Factory Manager, which allows advanced automation tools through a scripting language - Added Compressed Creativity - Adds integration between Create and PneumaticCraft - Added Not Enough Recipe Book - Removes the vanilla recipe book for some performance improvement - Switched from LaserIO to LaserIO UEL for more support - Adds many more QOL and compatibility features to LaserIO - Added Tinker’s Planner - Adds a button to the Tinker’s Station and Anvil that lets you simulate tool building to see what your tools’ stats will be - Added AE2 Network Analyzer - Adds an item that lets you visually see your AE2 network status - Removed e4mc from server packs to prevent conflicts, it will now only install on the client - Updated to Forge 47.4.20 - Updated ~40 additional mods **Recipe Changes:** - Added missing recipes to turn bean and peanut sacks back into beans and peanuts (Legume Delight update) - Pie crusts no longer cost sugar (Legume Delight update) - All cookies now cost sugar - Added Phytogenic Insolator recipes for beans and peanuts - The Blast Chiller now works with any water purification state (Scarcity mod update) - Thermal machines no longer duplicate smelted buckets (Scarcity mod update) - Added Tinkers melting recipes for ore chunks - 6 chunks makes 3 ingots in the melter, 4 ingots in the smeltery, and 5 ingots (plus byproduct) in the foundry - Added seared stone casting recipe back - Added Tinkers melting recipes for crumbling seared and scorched bricks - Smelting copper ore in a furnace now returns 3 copper ingots to match how many you normally get when breaking it - Made tinted glass costs less amethyst - Added recipes for armor trims - Mekanism Crusher changes - Crushed deepslate now has an input of cobbled deepslate to avoid a conflict with other recipes - Sulfur and niter can now be crushed into their respective dusts in a crusher **Custom Item Changes:** - The camel pack will now drink all remaining water in the tank, even if it is less than 100mb. Due to rounding down, these “sips” will be less efficient than drinking 100mb at a time. - For the normal camel pack, water values under 50 will not return thirst and values under 32 will not return quenchness - For the advanced camel pack, water values under 40 will not return thirst and values under 25 will not return quenchness - Added the Blazing Block, formed when water (and some other liquids) comes into contact with a Blazing Blood source block - Changed some blocks to use the "Damaged" prefix instead of "Crashed” - Shell constructors and shell storages are now resistant to explosions **Misc Changes:** - Added some Immersive Weathering fluid generators - All extruder recipes can now be made in-world - Netherrack from flowing lava touching destabilized redstone - Endstone from flowing lava touching resonant ender - Blackstone from flowing lava touching blue ice - Basalt from flowing lava touching blue ice and over soul soil - Cobbled deepslate from flowing lava touching packed ice - Deepslate from flowing lava touching packed ice and magma - Scoria from flowing lava touching packed ice and over soul soil - Blazing blood recipes - Blazing blood will now convert adjacent sand and dust into glass - All flowing lava recipes listed above also work with Blazing Blood instead of the lava - A blazing block now forms when cool liquids touch still blazing blood - Obsidian now forms from more liquids touching still lava - Disabled some old fluid generators that require different recipes (calcite, diorite, granite, and tuff should now be crafted instead of casted in-world) - Disabled some Immersive Weathering features - Sand seeping through blocks - Sand accumulation during storms - Sandstone erosion - Weeds replacing old crops - Saplings turning into dead bushes - Rooted dirt/grass when trees grow - Leaf piles from Ex Deorum infested leaves - Icicles granting fire resistance - Adjusted light spawning rules for certain mobs. The following changes affect all variations of blazes, piglins, magma cubes, and holy ghasts: - Block light can now disable spawning of these mobs - Daylight now disabled spawning of these mobs when outside structures - Overheating now causes some passive thirst drain - This scales up to 1 thirst drain every 12 seconds when body temperature reaches 100 - Since this only applies to body temperature (not world temperature), insulation will mostly prevent this drain from occuring - The RAM warning is now a bit “fuzzier” and only appears if you are not within 5% of the checked value - Changed a Mantle setting that should fix Tinker’s fluid rendering with shaders on but will make fluids glow more than they should - Increased max stored power of dissolution chamber

1.8.4.0 adds new camel pack types, reworks the tool leveling system, and fixes a variety of bugs. ## Highlights - Added two new camel pack types - Updated Tinker’s Tool Leveling, reworking the level-up modifier system completely - The world will no longer crash when touching heat sinks while wearing Tinkers armor - Added recipes to break down furniture into their base materials - Added a band-aid fix to stop player temperature randomly dropping to freezing levels - Reduced hunger loss from moving in water ## Full Changelog **Mod Changes:** - Updated Scarcity - Falling blocks with low hardness (falling leaves) no longer break the partial blocks they fall on - Water-logged plants no longer create water source blocks - Picking up water from a waterlogged block with a bottle no deletes the block - Updated Tinker’s Tool Leveling 2, the new version is a complete mod rewrite that changes how tool leveling works - The world will no longer crash when touching PneumaticCraft heat sinks - The kama, hammer, and crook will now correctly gain experience - “Disruptive” modifiers will no longer appear and all random modifiers *should* be entirely positive. For example, water-related modifiers, knockback, padded, and magnetic (on armor) no longer appear. - Added many new modifiers that were previously only obtainable through specific tool materials. These modifiers are weighted lower than the standard ones and removing them does not grant an upgrade slot back. - Updated EnderIO **Custom Items:** - Added two new types of camel packs - Advanced Camel Pack - Made from stillsuit materials like insulated hydraulic fabric and filtration pockets - 5x the tank capacity of the normal Camel Pack - Restores the same amount of thirst as the normal one - Restores 33% more quenchness than the normal one - Condensentrating Camel Pack - Made from endgame materials including 2x 256k ME Storage Components - No attached tank, will create infinite drinkable water from the air - Restores 50% more thirst than the normal one - Restores 60% more quenchness than the normal one **Recipe Changes:** - Added recipes to scavenge materials from furniture. Almost all furniture items found in cities can now be melted, sawed, or hammered to get pieces back from them. (ULSTICK) - Changed stillsuit crafting recipe, now uses an advanced camel pack - Recipes that required fluid conduits can now use other modded fluid transfer pipes - Fixed some PneumaticCraft ice duplication recipes where packed/blue ice costed 4 blocks instead of 9 - Compressed moss is now sievable - Removed all water bowl related recipes, they aren’t necessary when bottles exist and it added more overhead to support water duping with them - Removed the netherite from melting diamond ore in a foundry, it now gives emerald instead **Informational Changes:** - Added tooltips to all sugar-based foods warning about the debuffs from having high sugars - Changed text of the quest book’s “Infinite Lives” warning to clarify that hardcore mode is on and the sync shell gives more lives (this was a 1.8.1 change but it had not been properly activated) **Quest Changes:** - Camel pack quest now mentions the upgraded camel packs as an option - Camel pack quest no longer gives leather as a reward, now gives a choice between water bottles and a fluid reservior **Misc Changes:** - Added a script to prevent against random temperature drops - This was due to a bug where player’s temperature data was completely removed. The script detects the absence of the "biomes" modifier and adds all world-based temp modifiers back to the player if the biomes one is missing. This should hopefully stop the issue from happening until the bug is fixed. - Slightly increased water temperature, it is now 5°F / 2.8°C colder than biome temperature (previously 10°F / 5.5°C colder) - Reduced how much hunger is lost from moving in water - Reduced swimming hunger loss from 0.075 to 0.05 (vanilla default: 0.01) - Reduced underwater walking hunger loss from 0.075 to 0.05 (vanilla default: 0.01) - Reduced over-water walking hunger loss from 0.075 to 0.025 (vanilla default: 0.01) - Made trash piles mineable with shovels or hoes and slightly faster to mine - Disabled all block interaction with sink items to prevent water dupe exploits **Background Structure Changes:** - Updated the information page about [how to contribute to the modpack](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet/tree/main?tab=contributing-ov-file), it now includes more information about modpack file structure - Removed some development files that substantially increased unpacked file size

1.8.3.0 tweaks some Diet effects and fixes a variety of small bugs. ## Highlights - Made diet modifiers less punishing at low levels, but also less powerful at high levels - The fruits meter now granularly adjusts regeneration speed instead of halting it at low levels - Tomatoes now provide both fruits and vegetables - Added recipe to transfer water from buckets to bottles - Precise temperature will now display in the UI (if needed, you can change units to Celsius in Cold Sweat options) ## Full Changelog **Misc Changes:** - The precise temperature now displays in the UI, even without wearing a thermometer - The game will now show advice on launch if you are under or over memory recommendations - Patched a bug where Thermal’s machines would consume entire stacks of bottles when they should have consumed just one - Fixed camel pack being able to accept dirty water - Fixed a bug where Sync shells in shell storage would not drop their Curios inventory when destroyed - Fixed a bug where Diet attribute modifiers would not properly clear when syncing - Disabled Create’s unlimited fluid extraction (only affects new worlds) - Added a few more tips - Added a few more item tooltips **Food/Diet Tweaks:** - Rebalanced Diet modifiers to make them less punishing at low levels, but less OP at high levels - High/low fruit meters now slow or speed up regeneration speed instead of halting it at low levels and giving regeneration at high levels - Tomatoes are now considered both fruits and vegetables for the diet mod - If a food is made from tomatoes but does not prominently feature them, the fruit tag will not be carried through to it - Updated staple fruit list to include tomatoes - Tweaked properties of Enderios: - Enderios now have a chance of providing a variety of different minor random effects when eaten. These effects are typically neutral to slightly positive, but there is a low chance to get very positive effects. - Enderios now fill all four major diet categories - Enderios now refill 8 saturation instead of 5 - Added tooltip for Enderios to mention the effects - Low vegetables now give the Sundered debuff (reduces armor effectiveness) instead of the Vulnerability debuff (increases damage taken). This fixes a bug where health would be miscalculated after syncing and taking damage and the player would enter a half-death state. - Diet’s Fruit category now starts at 60% instead of 70% when respawning **Recipe Changes:** - Added recipe to transfer water from buckets to bottles - Create’s dough shows in all dough recipes instead of Farmer's Delight dough - Removed an old Farmer's Delight dough recipe - Removed a few wooden crucible recipes that were previously missed **Quest Changes:** - Fixed a few circular quest dependencies that caused some quests to be unlocked at the start when they shouldn't have been - The Easy Route now provides nutrient bricks as well as sandwiches - Changed what seeds are provided as rewards for some quests in The Food Pyramid - Removed bread reward from wheat quest now that there is a separate bread quest - Sapping the Saplings now just requires an acceptable water bottle instead of a bucket - Cut and Paste now requires "Against the Grain" from the Food Pyramid quest tree to be completed first - Fixed detection of advanced air compressor in "Raising the Bar" - Clarified wording of bone weapon quest to mention it can be completed with any material and how to make bone parts - Clarified wording of paste quest to state it is made from wheat, not just flour - Added note to watering can quest that advanced watering cans no longer require water **Added Mods:** - Updated around a dozen mods

These etched PCB types can be other PCB blueprints, unassembled PCBs, failed PCBs, or finished PCBs. - The empty PCB quest now provides a PCB blueprint as a reward instead of some plastic. PCB blueprints can also be found in chest loot. - Added recipes for laser and drill assembly programs. - Removed some more recipes for seared and scorched stone by pouring magma onto basalt or tool parts, it should now only be accessible from the Foundry structure - Rotten tomatoes are now compostable **Added Mods:** - Advanced Loot Info (replaces Just Enough Resources) - Added BetterBlockZ (for future use in structures) - Added KubeJS Mekanism - Updated ~25 mods **Removed Mods:** - Just Enough Resources (replaced with Advanced Loot Info) **Quest Changes:** - Fixed some item detection in Create quest lines: - The water bucket in “Biggest Fan” - The mechanical crafter in “Crafting Outside the Box” - Added new quest to serve as a disclaimer for the incomplete integration of the space mods - Clarified wording about the (currently incomplete) endgame - Clarified wording in blazing blood quest - Clarified foundry structure information - Clarified/updated the source of cobalt and debris listed in the quests - Added warning to the conduits quest to explain a bug prevents fluid conduits from transferring water - Tweaked rewards for the placeholder quests in the final quest line **Visual Changes:** - The Mojang studios background on launch is now black instead of red (this will only take effect after the second game launch and only on a fresh installation with reset options.txt) **Misc Changes:** - Created custom JEI tabs using the Advanced Loot Info mod, recipes are now shown for all structure chest loot - Fixed bottles being able to pick up flowing water sources - Modpack now comes with default options, including preset keybinds, brightness, and skipped basic tutorials (this will only take effect upon a fresh installation or with a reset options.txt) **Background Structure Changes:** - All structures now use the desolate_planet namespace - This means some errors will appear in the log on worlds generated before this update, but they can safely be ignored - Old loot tables still exist, and redirect to new loot tables. These will be removed in a future update, so after around 1.9.0.0, structures generated in 1.8.0.1 will have empty loot - Changed namespace of most recipes to desolate_planet instead of crash_landing or kubejs - Removed some unused configs

1.8.0 is a fairly large update bringing the new Foundry structure, structure maps, sieving and hunger reworks, and a significant number of recipe changes. Thanks to [ULSTICK](linktr.ee/ULSTICK) for the incredible work on the structures and a variety of other improvements. ## **Highlights** - New Foundry City structure - Structure maps can now be found in city loot tables, and lead you to the nearest structure of a given type - Reworked sieving to give each sieved block a distinct niche and spread ores across different block types - Adjusted hunger drain rate to make walking drain nearly as much hunger as sprinting - Adjusted regen rates and allowed passive regen at lower hunger levels - Added custom Tinkers’ Crook and Hammer tools - Disabled zombie villager curing - Nerfed Mob Grinding Utils recipes - Nerfed torch mining ## Full Changelog **World Changes:** - Added new Foundry City structure, a large Piglin city that has a chance to replace normal city generation. It contains a variety of foundry-related loot and is the new way to get scorched bricks. With the sieve rework (see below), it is now one of the only sources of ancient debris/netherite. (ULSTICK) - Cities can now spawn with billboards and bus stops on the roads (ULSTICK) - Chests in these locations can spawn with maps to nearby structures, to help players find them more easily - Changed which mobs spawn in which structures. This change is the first step towards some more significant biome changes that are in development. - The Oil Rig spawns mostly zombies, with moderate spawn rates of piglins, spiders, and skeletons - The Foundry spawns mostly piglins and some blazes, with smaller chances of skeletons, wither skeletons, and magma cubes - The Matter-Energy Research Lab spawns mostly zombies (mad scientist, villager, brute, and plague zombies), with moderate chance of witches, and tiny chances of lightning creepers, ninja skeletons, endermen, jolt blazes, and corrupted lunarians - The Nuclear Plant spawns mostly zombies (mad scientist, plague, villager, and giant zombies), with moderate chances of creepers, wither skeletons, and unholy ghasts - Added randomly spawning ruins (ULSTICK) - Added new city building (ULSTICK) - Increase chance of presses spawning in AE2 structure - Added Mutagenic/Tainted fertilizer to Nuclear Plant chests, see the Mob Grinding Utils section below for more information - Adjusted drop rates in city smeltery chests **Survival Changes:** *There are enough important changes in this area that I’m putting them in their own category.* - Adjusted rate of hunger loss from different actions. This new system makes it less punishing on sprinting and regen, but more punishing on normal movement. Players will have to eat more food on average but will need to worry less about sprinting to travel places. Regeneration is also tweaked to make high hunger values less necessary for regeneration. - Movement: - Sprinting hunger exhaustion per block *left alone* at `0.1` - Swimming and walking in water hunger exhaustion exhaustion per block *increased* from `0.01` to `0.075` - Walking, crouching, and climbing hunger exhaustion per block *increased* from `0` to `0.05` - Flying and falling hunger exhaustion per block *left alone* at `0.0` - Jumping: - Sprint jumping hunger exhaustion *left alone* at `0.2` - Normal jumping hunger exhaustion *increased* from `0.05` to `0.1` - Regeneration: - Halved hunger drain from regenerating health - Slow regen (*when hunger bar is slightly drained*) - Slow regen now requires a minimum of 7 hunger instead of a minimum of 18, meaning you will regenerate for much longer - Doubled rate of slow regen (now occurs every two seconds instead of every four seconds) - Fast regen (*when hunger bar is completely full*) - Halved rate of fast regen (now occurs once every second instead of twice every second) - Water containers without purity tags will now have the default purity NBT added while in-inventory - This will fix most cases where the game crashes due to smelting untagged water buckets while I [wait for Thirst to fix that bug](https://github.com/ghen-git/Thirst-Mod/issues/261) (it seems like the authors are inactive so it may be a while) - This will fix some cases of infinite water exploits while I wait for [my pull request on Ex Deorum](https://github.com/thedarkcolour/ExDeorum/pull/170) to get approved - This fixes some cases of water bottles taken out of Thermal machines appearing with pink textures - As a side effect, water bottles without purity NBT will no longer stack with the ones already in-inventory when picked up and must be arranged after the pickup ends - Falling blocks that land on partial blocks (like torches or slabs) now have a chance to break the block they land on. The chance is based on the partial block’s hardness, where blocks like torches will break instantly, but something harder like stone will have a reduced chance. This functionally disables torch-mining of dust and other falling blocks. - Copied Ex Deorum config to default configs folder, allowing configured changes to properly show up in worlds. The following changes will only be present in newly created worlds; copy the file at `/defaultconfigs/exdeorum-server.toml` into your world’s serverconfig folder. - Ex Deorum sieving can now be performed by Create’s deployers and other fake players - Simultaneous sieving now only affects a 3x3 instead of a 5x5 - Fake players are limited to sieving a 1x1 - It is now possible to pick up water with a glass bottle if you have four or more glass bottles in your hand. It will consume the water block and convert all four bottles into water bottles. With less than four in your hand, pickup is cancelled because it would waste water. - Disabled Zombie Villager curing - Added tooltip to weakness potions and golden apples warning that zombie villager curing is disabled **Custom Items:** (ULSTICK) - Custom Tinker’s Crook Tool - Made from an adze head and two handles - Old crook recipes now create the Tinkers version with the appropriate materials - Custom Tinker’s Crushing Hammer Tool - Made from a hammer head, tool binding, and handle - Old hammer recipes now create the Tinkers version with the appropriate materials - Compressed hammers have a new recipe - Crumbling Scorched Bricks for Foundry buildings **Recipe Changes:** - Sieving has been thoroughly reworked, simplifying the rewards from each sifted block and requiring a greater variety of blocks to be sifted to get all materials. You will now need to sift most block types in order to get all materials. - Ore Categories - Metals - Very common: - Iron (from sifting all stone-based blocks) - Common: - Copper (from sifting all stone-based blocks but sand) - Gold (from sifting all stone-based blocks but sand) - Uncommon: - Tin (from sifting sand or gravel) - Zinc (from sifting sand or gravel) - Nickel (from sifting sand or gravel) - Rare: - Silver (from sifting gravel or crushed deepslate) - Lead (from sifting gravel or crushed deepslate) - Very rare: - Osmium (from sifting crushed deepslate, though the method may change when endgame changes come out) - Uranium (from sifting crushed deepslate, though the method may change when biome changes come out) - Cobalt (from sifting nether blocks, with a higher chance from crushed blackstone) - Gems/Nonmetals - Common: - Redstone (from sifting all stone-based blocks but sand) - Uncommon: - Coal (from sifting gravel) - Certus quartz (from sifting sand) - Quartz (from sifting sand or nether blocks) - Rare: - Lapis lazuli (from sifting crushed deepslate) - Diamond (from sifting crushed deepslate) - Emerald (from sifting crushed deepslate) - Amethyst (from sifting crushed deepslate) - Apatite (from sifting crushed deepslate) - Siftable Block Categories: - Stone-based: *Stone-based blocks primarily drop ore chunks, some gems, and some misc ingredients based on their type.* - Dust - Sand - Gravel - Crushed Deepslate - Red Sand - Dirt-based: *Dirt-based blocks drop natural materials like seeds.* - Dirt - Moss - Podzol - Nether: *Nether blocks drop nether resources.* - Crushed Netherrack - Crushed Blackstone - Soul Sand - End: End *blocks drop end resources.* - Crushed End Stone - Other sieving changes - Sifting dirt and podzol no longer drop saplings, instead dropping seeds for the plant that they become. These seeds turn into the corresponding plants when placed, so this change is mostly for cosmetics/immersion. - Ancient debris is now only found in loot chests and does not appear when sifting - Tooltips have been added to each siftable block clarifying what they can be sifted into and how they are made - Podzol and moss are part of the main sieving script and have slightly adjusted drop rates - Pebbles have been removed from all sieve results because each stone type is now craftable in other ways (see below) - Stone pebbles and flint become less common with higher mesh tiers instead of more common - Uranium chunks now craft into uranium clumps instead of ore, requiring Mekanism processing to refine - Updated some recipes to balance sieving changes: - Sync cores are now crafted from lapis, diamonds, certus quartz, and an ender pearl - The Mob Imprisonment tool now costs an ender eye instead of a ghast tear - Building Gadgets recipes now require invar, ender pearls, and PCB segments - 16k and 64k AE2 storage components now cost redstone instead of glowstone - AE2 blank patterns now cost redstone instead of glowstone - Many more stone types can be crafted, and some stone recipes have been updated for *slightly* more realism. If any geologists have suggestions for better recipes, feel free to let me know in the Discord. - Crafting: - Calcite from stone and bone meal - Tuff from stone and charcoal - Limestone is now made from calcite and stone (instead of extruding from honey) - Dripstone from calcite, stone, and clay - Extruding: - Scoria is now made from packed ice extruding over soul soil (instead of chocolate) - Limestone is now crafted, not extruded - Casting: (ULSTICK) - Asurine from casting water over prismarine - Veridium from casting earth slime over mossy cobblestone - Crimsite from casting redstone over tuff - Ochrum from casting honey over dripstone - Mob Grinding Utils recipes have been rebalanced to make them less overpowered. More Mob Grinding Utils balancing is likely on the way and some items may eventually be fully removed for being too strong. Let me know your balancing opinions on the Discord. - Nutritious/Cursed Chicken feed are no longer craftable meaning golden/rotten eggs and delightful/dreadful dirt are not craftable either. Instead, you must find Mutagenic/Tainted Fertilizer in nuclear plant chests to make delightful/dreadful dirt. - Fans now require propellers, iron blocks, stone, and a redstone servo (ULSTICK) - Mob grinders now require a saw blade, machine frame, diamonds, and iron gears (ULSTICK) - Spikes now require iron and a compressed iron block (ULSTICK) - The absorption hopper now requires an extra ender eye and obsidian - The tank now requires compressed iron and iron bars - The jumbo tank now requires other modded tanks as well as atomic alloy and a PCB (ULSTICK) - The entity conveyer now requires a belt and some plastic - The entity spawner now requires an empty spawner, a machine frame, and ender eyes - Tinted glass now requires refined obsidian due to its explosion resistance - All upgrades require a redstone servo, some type of relevant alloy, and certain items relevant to the upgrade type - Added some small Create/Ex Deorum compatibility recipes: - Most compressed blocks can now be crushed in a crushing wheel to make 9 of the crushed versions - Water can be haunted into witch water - Sand can be filled with witch water to make soul sand - Dust can be filled with water to make clay - Ex Deorum hammer and crook recipes now create the new custom Tinkers variants - Ex Deorum compressed hammers are now crafted from material storage blocks instead of nine hammers - Ex Deorum hammering recipes now target block tags, allowing them to function with a wider range of blocks - Added some Create mixing support for Thermal alloys - Added some Thermal pressing support for Create and Create Deco sheets - Flowers in a centrifuge now produce dye as well as water, fixing a recipe conflict that existed previously - Updated some Industrial Foregoing recipes to avoid using vanilla tools - Added advanced recipe for the nutrient brick in a dissolution chamber - Removed a few soul fire blocks from haunting recipes - Fixed conflicting Create belt recipes (ULSTICK) - Fixed duplicate recipe for puncturing enchantment **Added Mods:** - Added [Scarcity](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/scarcity), a mod created for this modpack that allows tweaking of some survival-related options (see the Survival Changes section above for the changes this makes) - Added Project Red (specifically core, transmission, and integration), allowing more complex redstone devices - Another Furniture, for use in structures (ULSTICK) - Updated Tinkers Construct; for more information, see the Tinkers’ [3.11.0](https://slimeknights.github.io/posts/2025/12/23/tinkers-3.11.0-changelog/) and [3.11.1](https://github.com/SlimeKnights/TinkersConstruct/releases/tag/v3.11.1.158) patch notes - Updated 26 additional mods **Removed Mods:** - Removed Thirsty Bottles, [Scarcity](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/scarcity) includes its functionality (see the Survival changes section above for the changes this makes) - Removed Pehkui, it has not been in use for a long time - Removed Polylib, it has also not been in use **Quest Changes:** - Reordered starting quests and added more quest information about where to get each type of ore - The Crook and Hammer quests now require the new Tinkers variants (the old recipe create the Tinkers variants now) - Added crashed controller requirement to the AE2 Salvage Operation quest - Stillsuit quest now requires plastic quest to be complete - Machine frame quest now allows other alloying quests to unlock it in cases where users make invar through the smeltery before opening the Create quest line - Clarified wording in Salvage Operation quests - Replaced Functional Storage quest rewards with Sophisticated Storage ones - The Compressed Iron quest’s TNT task now allows other types of explosives as well as vanilla one **Visual Changes:** - Redesigned Sync textures and models (ULSTICK) - Changed Golden/Rotten Eggs into Mutagenic/Tainted fertilizer, now found in Nuclear plants instead of crafted - Changed delightful and dreadful dirt to have the correct dirt textures instead of large single-colored blocks underneath the grass layer (ULSTICK) - Fixed world creation menu having a dirt background near the buttons (ULSTICK) - Added some more information to item tooltips for clarity - Set the Mob Grinding Utils Vanillafied resource pack to be enabled by default (only affects new installs though I recommend everyone enable it, it’s a major improvement) - Improvements and more color variations for the upcoming ship chair block **Background Structure Changes:** - Changed License to CC BY-NC-SA, meaning you can copy, modify, and distribute any of the content in the modpack, as long as it’s credited and not for commercial use - Moved to a new GitHub repo URL ([pawjwp/Desolate-Planet](https://github.com/pawjwp/Desolate-Planet)) since MarkSDR has been inactive in the modpack’s development for almost a year. - Removed some old data files that no longer did anything - Changed namespace on some recipe IDs (ULSTICK)

1.7.0 is a major update split into two parts; structures and food. The structure changes are due to the excellent work of [ULSTICK](https://linktr.ee/ULSTICK), and completely replace the old cities with new ones, as well as adding the new Matter-Energy Research Lab and Oil Rig structures. The food changes replace [Harvestcraft](https://modrinth.com/mod/pams-harvestcraft-2-food-core) with [Farmer’s Delight](https://modrinth.com/mod/farmers-delight/) and [Spice of Overhaul](https://modrinth.com/mod/spice-of-overhaul) with [Diet](https://modrinth.com/mod/diet), creating a simpler and more immersive food system. [ULSTICK](linktr.ee/ULSTICK) **Migration Information:** *Upon joining a world created before the update, the following changes will be made, permanently altering the game. I recommend backing up your world before loading the game on the new version in case there are migration issues.* - *All* items from the Harvestcraft series of mods will be removed upon world loading. - Because most of the game’s food items will be removed, make sure you have a stable supply of non-Harvestcraft food before updating. - It may also be a good idea to stockpile dirt so you can sieve for the new seeds after the update. - All new cities that generate will be the updated type. This can result in generation errors for cities on the edge of generated terrain. I recommend deleting far away chunks from older worlds so you can regenerate them and explore the cities. *Back up your world before doing this*. - Functional Storage is now deprecated and will be removed in a later version. All items from the mod have been made uncraftable and players should migrate to Limited Barrels from Sophisticated Storage instead. **Added Mods:** - Diet - The Diet mod replaces the previous nutrition system. Each food now has a tooltip showing what nutrients it gives you, split into 5 different food categories; grains, proteins, vegetables, fruits, and sugars. Each have different statistics and effects. <details> <summary>Full food group details</summary> Grains are the most important food group due to their slightly fast rate of gain and loss and their effect on movement, mining, and attack speed. You spawn with your grains meter at 50%. 1.6.0 is another significant update that will break worlds. This update focuses on the migration away from the Survive mod and the switch to Cold Sweat and Thirst Was Taken, which are far more stable. This is not fully backwards compatible with 1.5.X and many items will be removed. BACK UP YOUR WORLDS before updating. **Migration Information:** *Upon joining a world created before the update, the following changes will be made, permanently altering the game and breaking most Survive-related features from pre-1.6.X. If you want to play with an old world on the new version, BACK UP YOUR WORLD. This is very important!* - All purified water in the game will be REMOVED on world loading - String armor will be removed on world loading **Added Mods:** - Added Cold Sweat - Visit the [mod’s documentation](https://github.com/Momo-Softworks/Cold-Sweat/wiki) for full information about the new temperature system, but I’ll summarize below - Temperature indicator - Show above the hotbar - The center of the icon represents the player’s temperature - The area around that center represents the world temperature - A thermometer can be made to show specific numerical temperatures - Temperature mechanics - If the world temperature reaches over 100° F/38° C, the player’s temperature will start to rise and they will experience negative effects - The desert is 75° F/24° C at midnight and 105° F/40° C at noon - You can take shelter in the ship or other sources of shade to reduce the effects of temperature, and it is necessary to do this during the warmest hours of the day - You can insulate yourself from high temperatures with Desert Armor, Leather Insulation, or a Stillsuit (see Custom Items section below) - The deeper underground you get, temperature is affected less by the current time - Visit the mod’s in your options menu if you’d like to change your default temperature units from F to C - Added Thirst Was Taken - This replaces Survive with a new Thirst system - Water bottles now have 4 purity tiers: - Dirty - Slightly Dirty - Acceptable - Purified - The different tiers have different chances of giving you negative status effects - Purifying Water: - You can purify water 2 tiers by smelting it - You can quickly purify water 1 tier by using a water filter - You can use the Sand Filter to purify water using Create - Most machines that passes through machines will change its tier to acceptable automatically - You can make a Camel Pack to automatically drink (see Custom Items section below) - You can reduce your water consumption rate using a Stillsuit (see Custom Items section below) - Added Sync Forge, a new port of the sync mod that was forked from my version of Sync Fabric - This should fix a few bugs with the current version and removes the requirement for Fabric compatibility, making the mod more stable and lightweight - Added e4mc, now all worlds opened to LAN are hosted online (can be disabled) - This will allow for easier multiplayer game hosting (and reduce how much time I spend explaining server hosting mechanics to people) - Added AppleSkin back - If you experience framerate drops when holding food, go to the AppleSkin config and disable all entries that mention the HUD overlay. - Added CitReforged for custom water item textures - Updated ~60 additional mods **Removed Mods:** - Removed Survive - All purified water buckets, canteens, charcoal filters, water bowls, temperature regulators, thermometers, etc. will be REMOVED upon joining an old world - All purified water liquid in the world will be removed - All purified water bottles will be turned into invalid potion items, but can still be drunk to restore thirst - Removed string armor, desert clothes should be used instead - Removed Sync Fabric, it is replaced by the Forge version - Removed Stackables since Thirst Was Taken includes stacking water bottles natively - Removed Sinytra Connector and its addons, no fabric mods are in use anymore **Custom Items:** - Water Filter - Crafted with paper, charcoal, and gravel - Has 16 durability - When crafted with a bucket or bottle, it will increase the purity value by one tier - Camel Pack - Crafted with leather, a water filter, and a bucket - Equipped in the Curios belt or back slot - It contains an internal tank of 4000mb - The camel pack will automatically drink from the tank and keep the wearer above 18 thirst - The camel pack will render the current tank amount and liquid type - Has a 3D model when worn - Desert Clothes - Crafted with leather, string, wool, and wood depending on the armor type - Worn as armor to provide insulation from the heat - Replaces the functionality of string armor - Design based on desert villagers - Leather Insulation - Crafted with leather and string - Equipped in the custom Curios insulation slot - Provides insulation from extreme temperatures when worn - Insulated Hydraulic Fabric - Crafted with rubber, string, and plastic - Used to craft the Stillsuit - Filtration pocket - Crafted with insulated hydraulic fabric, a water filter, and a fluid conduit - Used to craft the Stillsuit - Stillsuit - Crafted with insulated hydraulic fabric, filtration pockets, a fluid conduit, and a camel pack - Equipped in the custom Curios insulation slot - Provides significant insulation from extreme temperatures - Halves water consumption rate - Renders between your skin and your clothing layer - Snow Clothes - Partially implemented, for when I eventually make a cold weather variant playstyle **Recipe Changes:** - Rebalanced recipes for melting organic matter in barrels, crucibles, and centrifuge - Saplings, leaves, flowers, and misc crops can be melted for 50 water - Fruits and cacti can be melted for 125 water - Dirt can be centrifuged (not the other types) for 250 dirty water - These values are lower than the previously were, but water bottles now only cost 250 mb instead of 1000, so it should more than even out - Rebalanced dirt sieving output, adding potatoes and carrots, and reducing a variety of other drop chances - Increased iron drops from sieving - Added calcite to sand and deepslate sifting - Reenabled diamond and netherite armor recipes (for crafting other items), but set their durability to 1 - Create’s belt recipe provides 3 belts now instead of 1 - Fixed Tinker’s filling recipes using 500mb for water buckets - Removed some cutting board and freezing recipes from Refurbished Furniture - Fixed duplicate zinc sheet items in recipe **Quest Changes:** - New quest for water filter - New quest for camel pack - New quest for leather insulation - New quest for stillsuit - Updated quest rewards to remove replace all Survive items - Clarified wording in some quests **World Changes:** - Updated ship design to use fewer partial blocks in its construction (for better insulation) - Disabled some Immersive Weathering features **Visual Changes:** - Replaced vanilla splash messages with a unique set **Background Structure Changes:** - Removed a variety of unused files, mostly related to redundant structure declarations **Other Misc Changes:** - Fixed issues with sync mod items not dropping correctly - Forced slime spawning to follow light level rules, even in slime chunks - Rearranged ingredient and recipe lists in JEI to prioritize early game mods first - Fixed a few tooltip errors - Reworked right click denial scripts to stop blocking right clicks it shouldn’t

This update is the largest one yet, including a complete overhaul of every quest in the game and with hundreds of other changes for playability, immersion, optimization, and more! However, it is NOT backwards-compatible with 1.4.X versions. There have been significant changes to the world generation, quests, and mod list, that will cause issues if you play a 1.4.X world on 1.5.X, so BACK UP YOUR SAVE FILES. If you have questions, join our [Discord server](https://discord.gg/4en3SpWtJg). **Migration Information:** *Upon joining a world created before the update, the following changes will be made, permanently altering the game and breaking most automation from pre-1.5.X. If you want to play with an old world on the new version, BACK UP YOUR WORLD. This is very important!* - All Pipez Pipes and XNet cables will be removed - All concrete slabs and stairs (used on part of the previous ship design) will be removed. If it is night, this will likely result in mobs being able to get into the ship! - All chests in visited cities will be removed, newly generated cities will be unaffected - All zombie jerky, spider eye soup, string armor, and wood armor will be removed, but new versions can still be crafted - All slab machines will be removed - All Farmer’s Delight and Thermal Cultivation foods and crops will be removed - All Item Collectors, Magnets, and Trash cans will be removed **Quest Changes:** *Every single quest in the game has been rewritten with consistent styling and they have all been restructured to focus on smooth progression and aesthetics. I tried to strike a balance between not forcing the player to do things in a certain way but still but guiding their progression, as well as avoiding hand-holding too much, but still providing detailed descriptions for new players. There are too many changes to cover here, but an abbreviated recap of the major changes can be found below.* - Introduction: - Replaced description text with a in-world description of your situation, from the perspective of your Multipurpose Assistance Terminal. - Redesigned quest book (see visual changes below) - Added brief descriptions for each quest line - Most quest lines now use “Reversed Triggers” for the quests, meaning new quests appear as you play instead of being visible from the start - Basic Survival: - Reorganized entire quest line to progress from left to right and with more aesthetics and less crossing over itself - This is arguably the most significant quest line so the following is a detailed breakdown of the changes: - Added quests (14): - Tinker’s Tools (make a part builder and tinker station) - Live to Fight Another Day (make a tinkers sword) - Breaking New Ground (make a tinkers mattock) - By Hook or By Crook (make a crook) - String Theory (acquire silkworms and string) - Hammer Time (make a hammer) - Bottom of the Barrel (making dirt in a barrel) - Fine-Toothed Comb (making an upgraded mesh) - Cut and Paste (make paste, an early game slimeball substitute) - Sticky Situation (make green/blue slimeballs) - 1-Up (shell constructor quest) was moved here from Creating Life - Life Insurance (shell storage quest) was added now that shell storage is not essential for syncing - Letting it Breath (make string armor for cooling), adapted from the important notes list - Power Struggle (make a pitiful generator) - Removed quests (16, mostly moved to other branches): - All starting informational quests have been folded into other quests - Ice Ice Baby (collecting water bottles for snowman) - Killing Time (collecting mob parts for a bazooka) - Tools of the Trade (split into separate quests for Hammer, Crook, Mattock, and Sword) - Power Underwhelming (building a ender generator) is replaced with building a pitiful generator - The first half of Blending it Up (making a mill stone, hand crank, and cogs from create) is moved to the Like Clockwork quest chain and split into three quests (Getting a Handle on Things, Gearing Up, and The Daily Grind) - The second half of Blending it Up (making invar, electrum, and steel dust and a metallurgic infuser) is moved to Technological Revolution and split into two quests (Stirring Up Trouble and Fuse Box) - Desperate Times… (making zombie jerky) is moved to Culinary “Delights” - Cooking Utensils (making cooking utensils) is moved to Culinary “Delights” and renamed to Stirring Things Up - Stocking Eyes (making spider eye soup) is moved to Culinary “Delights” and renamed to Bugging Out - Even more desperate (making cooked silkworms) is removed in favor of other food sources in Culinary “Delights” - End of an Era (gaining plastic/PCB) quest is now handled in Under Pressure - Smoovin Things Around (making pipes) is moved to Technological Revolution and renamed to Pipe Dreams - Oil From the Deep Dust (refining oil) is moved to Under Pressure and renamed to Burning the Midnight Oil - Culinary “Delights” (new!): - New quest chain for food-related quests and featuring custom foods! - Includes three short “routes” and 10 quests total - Two quests to build Pam’s Harvestcraft cooking tools - Four quests guiding the player towards eating monster-based foods (zombie jerky, monster mash, etc.) - Four quests guiding the player towards setting up a farm and recommending the most practical early-game food sources - Like Clockwork (new!): - New quest chain for the Create mod! Thanks to IcebergLettuce on discord for writing most of the description text. - Includes 5 sections for the different tiers of the mod; andesite (11 quests), iron (7 quests), copper (3 quests), gold (3 quests), and brass (7 quests). - There is a choice at the beginning to take an abbreviated route (6 quests) that only requires the essential parts of the mod, all in andesite tier. (Intended for people who don’t like Create or don’t need a guide) - Under Pressure: - Pneumaticcraft quest chain, which went from 13 to 16 quests - There are more dedicated quests to guide the player towards building their first PCB - Salvage Operation: - Quest chain for salvaging items from the world, which went from 5 to 15 quests. - Dedicated sections for AE2, Bigger Reactors, and Tinkers Construct - Technological Revolution: - Quest chain for machines, mostly from Thermal and Industrial Foregoing, which went from 12 to 27 quests - Tree starts with quests to create a machine frame, now used in recipes for all tech mods - Left half of the tree is dedicated to Thermal - Right half of the tree is dedicated to Industrial Foregoing - To Infinity and Beyond (new!): - Unfinished quest chain that will eventually be fleshed out into an Ad Astra guide, eventually leading to the player escaping the planet - For now there is a single WIP quest that informs the player of the current status - Creating Life (removed): - Sync quest was moved to Basic Survival - All spawn egg quests were turned into crafting recipes in the Dissolution Chamber - All equipment quests were turned into normal shaped crafting recipes **Added Mods:** - EnderIO, with modified functionality: - Removed most EnderIO items (removed their recipes and hid them in JEI) - All alloy smelter, sag mill, slice n' splice, and soul binder recipes have been removed - All EnderIO alloys in recipes have been replaced with Thermal analogs to allow items to be craftable - Added some custom recipes to fix remaining conflicts and some uncraftable items - View the full list of remaining items in [#db6e405](https://github.com/MarkScedra/Crash-2/commit/db6e4059224d2361c8595851ea89649dbeac757d) - Added NFM for more Mr. Crayfish-style furniture with a modern theme - Added Crayfish’s Refurbished Furniture mod for the modern version of CFM - Changed furniture in generated structures to use the Refurbished versions - All Refurbished Furniture blocks do not dispense free water - The television, recycling bin, and all freezing recipes are removed - Added KubeJS Industrial Foregoing Addon - Added WorldEdit for development **Removed Mods:** - Removed Pipez, using EnderIO conduits instead (WARNING: All pipes in the entire world will be removed upon joining! **Highlights:** This update reworks sieving rewards, updates many mods, and makes a few recipes easier. **Sieve Changes:** - Sieve drop chances have been completely overhauled, and are determined by a new many-step process: - It starts with the base ore spawn ratio of the ore in a standard world. - This value is adjusted in favor of ores at the most accessible y-levels - This value is then weighted by block type (deepslate uses lower in-world y-levels, dust drops more dusts, red sand drops more red things, etc.). - This value is square rooted to adjust for the frequency bias of human estimation of scale in 3D space. - This value is then weighted to get a reasonable total drop chance for the entire pool of items, partially based on accessibility of the block. - This value is rounded within around 10% to the nearest nice number. - This value is then increased or decreased according to mesh level. Drop chances are significantly lowered if the mesh level is less than the required mining level of the ore block. For example, diamond ore requires an iron pickaxe/mesh meaning no diamonds drop from string mesh and reduced (25%) diamonds drop from flint mesh. Netherite requires a diamond pickaxe/mesh meaning no netherite drops from string, flint, or iron mesh, drops at a reduced rate from gold mesh, and drops normally from diamond mesh. - After normal drop rates are reached, successive mesh tier increases increase drop chances by 20% of the base chance. - This value is rounded to the 10ths place and put into the game. - If the value exceeds 100%, it is split into multiple rolls of a lesser percent. (A value of 160% would become two rolls of 80%, etc.) - Most of the drop table evaluation is done in a spreadsheet ahead of time and then and then exported and parsed by KubeJS functions. Gravel (0.75-3.10 average drops per block at different mesh tiers): - Gravel is intended as a general-purpose block for sifting and has a broad spread of useful drops. - Its drops are weighted around the ore ore spawning chances centered around the levels of y=56 and y=72, with roughly a bell-curve distribution extending from -32 to 160. - Returns deepslate pebbles to allowe crushed deepslate sifting. - It has a high flint chance to make upgrading meshes easier. - Intended as the standard, all-purpose block for sifting. Deepslate (0.68-3.29 average drops per block at different mesh tiers): - Deepslate has a higher drop chances for ores found more commonly below y=0. - It is one of the only sieved blocks to drop special stone types (andesite, diorite, granite, and tuff), though those can often be crafted in other ways. - It has a slightly boosted chance for rarer and more valuable ores. - It has a higher chance for the Thermal ores and is the only place to get Apatite and Cinnabar. Sand (0.2-1.61 average drops per block at different mesh tiers): - Sand is similar to gravel, but without flint, coal, and stone types. - It has greatly increased chances for high-silicate drops (certus quartz types). Red Sand (0.17-1.72 average drops per block at different mesh tiers): - Red Sand is similar to sand but with greatly improved chances of gold, copper, and redstone at the cost of most other ore types. Dust (0.49-2.02 average drops per block at different mesh tiers): - Dust is similar to gravel but with the addition of assorted dusts at the cost of a general reduction in ore drops and very few gem-types. - Bone meal, gunpowder, certus quartz dust, glowstone dust, blaze powder, sky stone dust, and eggs appear in the dust sieving pool. - Fish have been removed and eggs may be removed at some point if chickens are moved to a structure. Dirt (2.22-4.46 average drops per block at different mesh tiers): - Dirt drops the same assortment of items with rebalanced rates Netherrack (0.91-2.38 average drops per block at different mesh tiers): - Netherrack is a general-purpose nether sieveable item, with broad drops including gold, quartz, glowstone, magma cream, cobalt, and a small chance at ancient debris. - It includes blackstone and basalt pebbles so other nether blocks can be made. - It also includes nature-type drops not found in other nether blocks like nylium spores, ichor/blood slime seeds and mushrooms. Blackstone (0.62-1.47 average drops per block at different mesh tiers): - Blackstone has a higher chance of gold and the highest ancient debris drop chance at the cost of reduced other drops compared to other nether blocks. Soul Sand (0.69-1.92 average drops per block at different mesh tiers): - Soul sand has a much higher quartz, gunpowder, nether wart, and ghast tear chance at the cost of most other drops. - It has an extra chance to drop bones. End Stone (0.1-0.27 average drops per block at different mesh tiers): - End stone drops the same assortment of end items with slightly rebalanced rates The following blocks are unchanged from the previous version, reworks may come at a later date: - Podzol - Moss Block **Recipe Changes:** - Rebalanced PCB recipe, the total cost is now: - 3 plastic sheets (previously 5 in 1.3.X, 4.5 in 1.4.X) - 3 redstone (previously 5 in 1.3.X, 4 in 1.4.X) - 2 sticks (previously 1 in 1.4.X) - 1 copper/gold ingot (previously 1.444 in 1.3.X, 1.277 in 1.4.X) - 1 slimeball (previously 2 in 1.3.X and 1.4.X) - Added melting recipes for stone in the smeltery/foundry, which provides lava and an additional byproduct of seared stone when melting in the foundry - Changed many PneumaticCraft recipes to not require specific dyes, which should make the Assembly Laser and Pneumatic Wrench easier to craft - Added renewable recipes for some end/dragon fight items: - Added dragon scale recipe (phantom membrane and a dragon scale, the initial scale must be given as a quest reward) - Added dragon breath recipe (enderslime bottle, dragon scale, chorus fruit, gunpowder) - Added dragon head recipe (6 dragon scales, enderman head, dragon breath) - Added shulker shell recipe (5 popped chorus fruit and an ender eye) - Fixed a typo in the blazing blood crucible heat source entry, blazing blood is a valid crucible heat source now - Fixed a typo in the Create soul soil haunting recipe removal script, the soul soil recipe is removed again - Fixed a typo in the Create canteen filling script **Mod Changes:** - Updated Survive and its dependency, UnionLib: - Taking damage from dehydration no longer damages armor - Obstacles blocking heat sources now affect temperature - Other changes can be found in the full [Survive changelog](https://modrinth.com/mod/survive/changelog) - Added Quark and its dependency, Zeta - Removed Harvest With Ease and its dependency, Cobweb as the functionality is included with Quark - Removed Deslabification as the functionality is included with Quark - Removed the following mods which were no longer in-use: - CraftTweaker (and its addons), as all scripts have been migrated to KubeJS - InventoryProfilesNext, as it was no longer in-use - OverworldPiglins, as it was no longer required due to the overworld datapack config settings - SoundsBeGone, as no sounds were disabled in the config - Removed the following clientside mods which were mostly used for development and aren't needed anymore: - Malilib - MiniHUD - NBTExporter - NBTTooltip - NoFog - Updated around 30 additional mods, see [#7574b43](https://github.com/MarkScedra/Crash-2/commit/7574b43d897ead16f622457d17f4d78c2df45fc9) **Other Changes:** - Removed some unneeded main menu buttons - Fixed Purified Water localization - Disabled corrupted desert rain

Sorry for the lack of updates, the lead modpack developer has been busy with his personal life for the past couple of months. I (@pawjwp) will be doing a lot of the modpack maintenance until he’s back. This update includes a lot of changes, many of which are background optimizations to our codebase and file structure. The other main purpose of this update is to ensure that any item someone would reasonably need is craftable, so a number of recipes have been added for items that were previously impossible to get. It also includes a server pack release so you can set up a multiplayer server easier. If you have any suggestions at all for how this modpack can improve, I plan to be very active on our discord server and I will start releasing updates more frequently as well. I have a rework of the quest line in-progress and I hope to add some story elements and an expanded endgame to the pack. If you find any issues or have any suggestions, let me know in our discord server: https://discord.gg/AVPtE3JypJ WARNING: To prevent item loss, remove ALL items in gravestones and drying racks before updating! All items stored in these blocks will be deleted when loading the world. We recommend backing up your save files before updating! There is always a risk that updates can corrupt or overwrite worlds! Fixes and tweaks to fit better the feel of the original Crash Landing: Added the Canteen and Glass Bottle filling recipes with Create Spout, Thermal Bottler and using Porcelain Crucible with Tinkers blocks; Removed the Wooden Crucibles, now you'll need to make water with the Porcelain Crucible; To fill the Bottles in any case, i'll need 1 bucket of water, instead of 0.25; Disabled the interaction of the Glass Bottle in most of the cases to avoid exploits (but you can still use the Create Depot + Spout); Added more items (from Pam's) to make Water on the Porcelain Crucible and Centrifugal Separator; Some items used to make Water Centrifugal Separator has as subproduct the Mekanism Bio fuel, and you can use it to make Dirt on Barrels or other stuff later (like Slime on the Metalurgic Infuser); Added more items (from Pam's) to make Dirt on the Exdeorum Barrels; Fixed the durability of the Invar Shears; Changed most of the machines and technics to produce Purified Water instead of normal water; Added the Create Blaze Burner as a heat source on the Porcelain Crucible. The most feeded the blaze is, the faster the Crucible can be; Changed the sleeping bag recipe to make it a little harder to get; Changed the spreading and drops of the infested leaves, you will have to work a little harder to get Strings; Made hunger a little harder; Fixed the log error related to slime blood; Husks are back! (because i noticed that we need some next day risk if you pass a night inside of the ship)
