## Pumpkin Shaders
Shaders that (try) to not make your computer cry while still somewhat sticking to the vanilla style.

**PLEASE NOTE:** This shader is in early stages of development and you may experience issues while playing.
Tested on Windows & Linux. Iris is recommended over Optifine for versions that support it.
### Why is it called 'pumpkin'?
I opened Minecraft, went to a village and saw a pumpkin. Thats kinda just it.

**THIS UPDATE CHANGES LIGHTING HEAVILY - ITS RECOMMENDED TO RESET YOUR SETTINGS**
### Key Changes
- Made lighting more realistic by separating sun light from sky ambient light. Shadows now block sun light.
- Shadow quality has been greatly increased by hardware filtering. Foliage can now also cast shadows.
- Major settings changes.
### Details
- Added many new settings.
- Adjusted default settings.
- Sky light colour now uses the colour the sky uses by default.
- Foilage like grass, ferns, etc now cast shadows.
- Lava now cannot have shadows cast onto it.
- Shadows now actually 'block' sunlight.
- Small optimisation tweaks.
- Shadows are now hardware filtered, making them much higher quality than before.
- PCF options have been merged into one toggle.

### Key Changes:
- Rewrote lighting calculations, indoor scenes may now be more brighter. If you do not like this effect you can lower your ambient in Settings < Sky Light Color.
- Skies are now a solid colour.
- Default lighting colours have been changed to be slightly less orange.

- Small bits of code cleanup.
- More comments in code to help it be more clear.
- Adjusted how skies render. This change is experimental and may be reverted.
- Rewrote lighting calculations to be cleaner, this may affect the way lighting looks.

**ALL ALPHA VERSIONS PRIOR TO THIS VERSION HAVE HAD THEIR VERSION NUMBERS SHIFTED**
The change places an extra 0 before the last digit of the version number. eg: Alpha V.0.1 has become V.0.01.
All versions from this point will be dropping the 'V.' from version numbers too.
This version is the result of many small tweaks throughout the past 2 weeks.
### Key Changes:
- Scenes are now brighter due to changes in how lighting is calculated along with a boost to the default ambient option, which is also now configurable.
- A FXAA graphics option has been added. This smooths out the edges of objects, making them looks less pixelated.
- Shadows using the '16 Sample' PCF option for shadow softness now have a smoother blur made possible through Optifine's `noisetex`. The title of this option has been changed to 'Blurred 16 Sample' to reflect this change.
- Clouds now use a solid and more transparent colour. This change might be reverted.
- The shader pack now should work with 1.12.2 (and maybe some older versions) properly.
### Details
- 'Low' preset no longer softens shadows.
- 16 Sample PCF now uses `noisetex` to create a smoother look.
- Added anti-aliasing in the form of FXAA.
- Clouds now are much more transparent and solid white.
- Major fixes to remove incompatible GLSL functions that were running fine on 1.21.5 /w Iris due to it running code in a newer GLSL environment. This should help with support for older Minecraft versions.
- Default ambient is now 0.25 instead of 0.025 and an ambient option has been added to settings.

**Key Changes**
- Profiles have been added to settings. There are five in total (Potato, Low, Medium, High and Very High)
- Our implementation of shadow softness (PCF) has been improved there are now 3 modes for it, each increasing shadow quality. The performance of shadow softness settings will continue to be analysed and the implementation may eventually change.
- Shadows closer to the player should look slightly better, due to an increased shadow distortion. This is at the expense of shadows further away.
**Details**
- Added profiles to settings, there are 5 in total (Potato, Low, Medium, High and Very High).
- Improved PCF implementation, there are 3 now three modes (Dithered 4 Sample, 9 Sample and 16 Sample).
- Increased shadow distortion, leading to slightly better quality shadows when closer to the player at the expense of shadows further away. This value may continue to be tweaked.
- Tweaked settings menu.
- Increased the default shadow bias to avoid artifacts with PCF.
If no major issues occur, this version will be the last alpha version for the initial release.
